I was told by my kind tutors that i have a strong love towards the Technology in Fabrics. So, I should design some technical wear like Garments for Army, Space etc. But after the Group tutorials i found out that i was loosing the essence of design by making these kind of garments, which would be really obvious. I had contradicted my self by talking about laziness before, without any sound research. So i Wanted to start the whole process again to develop a meaningful collection with proper direction...
The result and feedback of my Academic tutorial is shown below...
So to start Again, i had to find an inspiration.
I did a project on Live Broadcast of A Virtual Game show, in which I designed sets, costumes, styling, graphics, story boards and also acted in it. I was a success act and projected my love towards the TV and filmmaking. The story boarding and a story visualization, seemed as an awesome way of showing what is inside my mind, rather than taking a normal inspiration or muse as everyone does.
other than that i saw a short film clip created by Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen, which he used as an inspiration for his fashion Collection...
Filmmaking is a beautiful process, which helps to visualize a state of mind through moving visuals and actions; so, I wanted to use it as a source of my inspiration of my fashion collection. A film is an art form in itself and has inspired many generations of famous designers to derive collections out of them. It is a complicated, yet a better source of information, derived from our lives or the fantasies we hallucinate. I wanted to develop a film on an issue or a teaching, yet keeping it extra ordinarily visually appealing. I wanted to create a wow factor in it for the viewer and not just another short film. I wanted my inspiration to be dreamy and graphical to help me derive some important keywords for the collection later.
So, I researched the process of filmmaking and found that it includes large number of team members, and a lot of money. To understand the film making process i went through some film making books which gave me all the right information like..
Worthington, Charlotte, Producing: filmmaking / by Charlotte Worthington (2009) is an interesting book about the basic knowledge about producing and initiating a proper or a short film.
So, out of that, i found out the main person needed for the film, who could help me out was the Director. I met Mr. Alan Gardner, and discussed about the script. To start writing the script i refered this book to understand how the formal script is written.
Trottier, David, Screenwriter’s Bible (2005), screenwriting primer that provides a concise presentation of screenwriting basics.
While writing the script i thought that i wanted to make something related to victorian era. So, i researched many websites and books to understand the particular period. One of the books i read was
We completed the script and started looking for team required, apparatus and all the props we needed. the Research for all of these came from earlier shown books.
